SurvivalWhen
backpacking, you'll learn some key survival concepts such as wilderness travel, general first aid, weather conditions, topography, map and compass use, outdoor cooking, trail finding, how to choose a campsite, gear functions, organizing your pack, the
leave no trace concept, and understanding
impact. We will teach you all of the essentials for a safe, fun and responsible backpacking experience.
Things to Bring on Your Backpacking Adventure
Clothing-Fleece or wool sweater
-Lightweight thermal underwear - top and bottom
-Hiking pants - synthetic
-Hiking shorts - synthetic
-Long-sleeve shirts
-T-shirts
-Underwear
-Hiking socks
-Hat or beanie
-Rain jacket (waterproof and breathable)
-Rain or wind pants (waterproof and breathable)
-Sturdy hiking boots - waterproof, lightweight, broken-in, aggressive tread
-Camp shoes such as tennis shoes or sandals
Gear-Three one-quart water bottles or hydration system
-Headlamp and spare batteries/bulb
-Personal medications and/or prescriptions
