Choosing Your Gondola
We have different types of gondolas , a couple examples are traditional gondolas, and Neo-Venetian boats. We try to honor your request for preference of style of gondola, but all gondolas are subject to availability on the day of the cruise. Also, each gondola has a stereo system and CD player which fills the air with romantic music. If you have a favorite CD, the gondolier will be happy to play it for you.
Traditional Gondolas
These are propelled by oar or oarlock or “Remo e’ Forcola” in the manner that gondolas have been rowed for over 900 years in
Venice, Italy. These “human-powered” gondolas are usually uncovered so you can enjoy the stars at night, and see all of the sky as the sun sets over the water.
Neo-Venetian Gondolas
These boats have silent electric motors so the gondoliers steer them rather than rowing. Some are painted gleaming white or black with hand carvings in gold and silver, while others are ebony black with deep rich mahogany wood decks with inlaid roses. These more contemporary craft have a little more range and can, if requested in advance, cover much more distance.
