Sunset Trail Ride and BBQ
Follow the winding trail down through the narrows on the canyon floor, where erosion has carved natural dens for coyotes, bobcats, and other small wildlife. Watch for wild burros as you cross the mesa. Then, under a sunset sky, enjoy Red Rock Canyon and the majestic and colorful Spring Mountains. Back in camp, enjoy a Western barbecue under the stars. Step up to the grill for a thick, juicy steak*, grilled to your liking and served with all the fixin's -- green salad, baked potato, baked beans, corn on the cob, and beverages. For dessert, gather round the campfire for an old-fashioned marshmallow roast and s'mores. Hear a bit of Western history and perhaps a traditional poem, then join us in an old favorite song. Perhaps our most popular ride, the Sunset Trail ride is offered daily.

*Chicken, Salmon, or Vegetarian available by advance order only.

About Las Vegas Trail Rides
We are located only a few minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, in the heart of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. With miles of riding trails in a magnificent desert setting, a herd of beautiful, well-trained horses, and a staff of professional wrangler-guides, our Red Rock Ranch beckons to our guests who want to leave the city and the 21st Century behind. If you are interested in a horseback adventure and a taste of real Western hospitality, we invite you to look through these pages at our exciting daily rides. Experienced rider or novice, we have a ride--and an adventure--that is right for you.

The Best Horses, Scenery, and Staff
We are a family-owned and -operated horseback riding and tour company in Las Vegas and have been providing horseback rides for 13 years. Our ranch, hidden in the high desert mountains west of the city and minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, offers guests an authentic and adventurous Old West experience in one of America's most scenic protected environments.

Our site in the beautiful Red Rock National Conservation Area is operated under a license agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Guests are surprised by the vegetation -- many varieties of cactus, yucca, Joshua trees, grasses, bushes and flowers -- and the wildlife. Wild burros watch our riders from rocky hillsides, quail and chuckar abound along the trails, hawks sail above the canyons as they hunt ground squirrels and smaller birds, coyotes sing in the twilight.

Guided by friendly professional wranglers and mounted on our beautiful, well-trained horses, our guests enjoy spectacular back-country trail rides that many say are the highlights of their Southern Nevada vacations. We don't exaggerate when we say Cowboy Trail Rides has the best horses, the best rides, the best scenery, and the best staff you are likely to find anywhere.

A Learning Experience
At Red Rock Ranch, we offer a learning experience along with the enjoyment and comfort of knowing you're in good hands. Many of our guests come to us with little or no riding experience. If you are a first-time rider or have little experience on horseback, we'll take extra care to prepare you for your ride. Our wranglers begin each ride by helping you mount up, adjusting your tack to ensure a good fit, and providing pointers on how to control your horse and negotiate our trails. Your wrangler will tell you what to expect on your ride and, if you're feeling a bit apprehensive, he or she will make sure you are mounted on a horse that will take good care of you. Before you leave camp, we'll be sure you are feeling comfortable, confident, and relaxed---after all, that's what horseback riding in the back country is all about! There's nothing like the feel of a good horse beneath you as you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Red Rock Canyon.
