Activity Details - The inside scoop
You will spend the day with a skilled chef who will take you through the process of preparing a traditional Italian meal step-by step, from appetizer to dessert. The small number of participants in this class ensure you will have personalized attention from your expert chef, ensuring a highly memorable, Italian culinary experience.
Your tour begins with pick-up from your hotel in Rome. Your guide will take you off the beaten path to the ancient village of Mazzano Romano, where you head to the local market to acquire all the necessary ingredients for your class. Your guide will give you tips for selecting the best fresh vegetables, eggs, spices and meat. Then it’s time to start cooking!
Your cooking lesson takes place in the fully equipped, typical Roman kitchen. Under the guidance of your chef, you will learn how to prepare a typical four-course Italian meal from appetizer to dessert, including three different types of homemade pasta. You will also learn how to match each dish with suitable wines, selected from the best local varieties. Of course, no Italian cooking experience would be complete without sampling your creations – after trying your hand in the kitchen, it's time to sample your Roman dishes. Gather round the table with your fellow aspiring chefs, sip some wine and taste the delicious meal you have prepared.
After lunch, you’ll be taken to the nearby village of Calcata, this thriving little town is known for its restaurants, galleries and cafes and shops. Calcata makes a perfect end to a truly unique Roman vacation experience before returning to your hotel in Rome.
