Course Locations & Times
Our beginner Canyoneering course meets throughout the year between 7am - 9am, depending on the season. Upon checkout you will be given directions to our Meeting Location (San Dimas area). The area we train in and the canyons we descend are in the San Gabriels above Los Angeles. Unless indicated otherwise, all courses are full day and last 7 - 9 hours.

What is Canyoneering?
Imagine hiking up a mountain trail that parallels a deep canyon, where down below you hear water flowing over the rocky canyon bottom. You reach a point where the trail crosses the stream. After dressing for the descent, you begin following the watercourse down canyon, dealing with obstacles as they come. Ropes, harnesses and specialized training become the method of travel as you rappel off waterfalls. You may swim, wade or downclimb as you hike your way through the canyon. This is Canyoneering!

Your Exciting Canyoneering Adventure in Los Angeles
Come discover a true hidden gem of Los Angeles as we spend a full day exploring a local canyon, getting wet as we rappel down multiple waterfalls! This day adventure will involve hiking, downclimbing, possible swimming, rappelling and lots of laughing.

About Our Instructors
To become one of our instructors, it takes a lot more than technical skills. It requires a desire to inspire people, a desire to provide freedom and personal happiness. Our programs are the quality they are because of our team. Our expert instructors have been teaching this sport for well over a decade, and work hard to ensure everyone is safe throughout the adventure. We also require all of our guides to have a wilderness medical certification. Overall, we are here to make sure your experience is fun, thrilling, and unforgettable!

What Should I Bring?
  • Clothes to get wet in, and dry clothes for after the course
  • Small day pack to carry personal belongings
  • Sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat or beanie
  • Water - 3 liters recommended
  • High calorie lunch

How Should I Prepare?
Please arrive rested and hydrated, ready to learn. A lot of information is being covered in the course and you'll want to be as rested as possible.

Weather
Occasionally weather conditions may force cancellation. Do not assume a course has been cancelled if it is raining. If we do cancel due to weather, we will notify you and find the next available date to continue your canyoneering adventure.

Prerequisites
This course is perfect for beginners without any rope or harness experience, or for those that have been through a few canyon routes but without proper training. This year-round sport does not require the same physical fitness levels as rock climbing. You need to be fit enough to hike one to three miles up a trail, and then be able to make your way down a canyon. Rappelling by itself is a relatively easy activity where you get to enjoy the beauty of the canyon as you rappel down a waterfall!
