A Great Backpacking Trip in the Channel Islands!
Breathe fresh air, gaze at the starry night sky, and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness during this three day, two night backpacking trip through the Channel Islands National Park. We will travel into the backcountry for an instructional and informative backpacking experience. Our goal is to teach you backpacking concepts including wilderness travel, general first aid, weather conditions, topography, map and compass use, outdoor cooking, trail finding, how to choose a campsite, gear selection, organizing your pack, the "leave no trace" concept, and understanding the meaning of "impact". Not only will you get to know the Channel Islands after this trip, but you'll acquire key tips for surviving in the wilderness.

Explore the Unexplored

Come with us as we explore Santa Cruz Island, the "Galapagos of North America" in this beautiful deserted island off the coast of California. At around 8am, we'll take a small boat from Ventura on the mainland, across the Pacific, to our drop-off point. After an uphill hike, we'll camp in a rural campsite. The next day we'll embark on a cross island navigation, where we'll observe many of the plants and animals that exist nowhere else on the planet. We'll camp once more in an established site. On the final day, we'll snorkel and explore the 150 year old ranch area before taking a boat back to the mainland at 5 pm. This Channel Islands backpacking trip is truly unique and exciting, and you'll get to explore areas that are very rarely explored. Do not forget your camera for this trip!
