Kayak Tour of the 7 Caves
Explore the beautiful sea cliffs and caves on this 2 hour kayak tour in La Jolla. Paddle through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve filled with marine life. Kayak to Sunny Jim's Cave, the Arch Cave, the Clams' Cave and other sea caves for an amazing close-up of the sandstone formations. Witness sea lions, garibaldi, leopard sharks, shovelnose guitarfish and the occasional dolphin on this La Jolla kayak tour. About La Jolla Sea Caves
Facing north towards La Jolla Shores, the seven sea caves of La Jolla are perched within a 75-million-year-old sandstone sea cliff. The caves are named as follows, from west to east: The Clams' Cave, Sunny Jim's Cave, Arch Cave, Sea Surprize, Shopping Cart, Little Sister, and White Lady. The sea caves are only accessible by kayak, except Sunny Jim's.
Basic Itinerary
We'll start this kayaking tour with a brief paddling instruction and kayak lesson with your certified kayak tour guides. Paddle through the surf to start this kayak adventure off! Then paddle to the La Jolla Sea Caves including the Arch Cave, Sunny Jim's Cave and others. Check out the California sea lions sleeping on the cliff or swimming around playfully in the water.
The last and largest sea cave along the La Jolla seacliff is the Clams' Cave, named after its unusual double-sided shape. Your tour guide will likely take you through the Clams' Cave, depending on water conditions. They will dismount their kayaks to safely steer your kayak through this amazing sea cave, if of course the ocean conditions allow for it.
Kayak out past La Jolla Cove to the kelp beds to look for seals before paddling to the sandy flats to view the harmless leopard sharks from atop your kayak! Finish off this Kayak Tour of the 7 Caves and Ecological Reserve by surfing your kayak back to shore.
What to Bring
You will get wet on the kayak tour, so bathing suit attire is recommended. You may leave a towel, dry change of clothes, and your personal belongings in our complimentary lockers. However we do recommend arriving with your swimsuit already on, ready to go. Bare feet on the kayaks is fine, or you can wear sandals or watershoes. Baseball-type hats and sunscreen are also encouraged for your kayak tour! Wetsuits are available for rent for $5 on cooler days.
Requirements
We welcome kayakers of all shapes and sizes, from beginners to advanced on our kayaking tour in La Jolla. As long as you can swim and are at least 6 years of age, we encourage you to come join the fun! No previous kayak experience is necessary for our kayak tours. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult in a double kayak.
About Our Guides
All of our kayak tour guides are experienced watermen and women, as well as CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certified. All of our tour guides undergo extensive safety training, and are experienced kayakers with expertise specific to the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and the La Jolla Sea Caves. They are also certified through the British Canoe Union.

Cancellation Policy, E-Ticket, and Other Information
You may cancel your reservation and receive a full refund, less a 9.9% service fee to cover administrative costs and credit card fees, with a minimum of 48 hours advance notice. This reservation is non-cancelable and non-refundable any time within 48 hours of the event date and time.
NOTE: All guests must be able to swim. Tour lasts 2 hours. Please arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes prior to your reservation time.
