Operation
7 days a week; 10am to 5pm. Flight lasts about 1 hour, however you should allow yourself about 2 hours for the activity.

Helicopter Flying Lesson in Long Beach
The decision to learn to fly is a big one, but very rewarding and exciting! You will learn the basics of flying on our 1 hour discovery flight in Long Beach. We will schedule you with one of our highly experienced instructors in a Schweizer 300CBI. The instructor will take you out to the aircraft and explain to you the basics of the aircraft and what to expect on your flight.

Once you are airborne, the instructor will let you take over the controls so that you'll be able to experience the handling of the aircraft. Whether you fly over the ocean and up the coast or more inland over the Los Angeles area, your flight will last about an hour.

After you've landed safely, you will receive a logbook endorsed by your instructor, recording the time that you flew. This time is good toward the 40 hours needed to receive your private pilot's license.

About Our Aircraft
We truly stand out from other flight schools in the Southern California area because we train our students in the Schweizer 300CBI. The Schweizer 300 is not only dominant in the field of safety, but can carry more passenger weight and, most importantly, has flight characteristics more comparable to popular models of turbine helicopters than its smaller cousin, the Robinson R22.

The Schweizer's flight characteristics are most commonly compared to those of the Bell 206 and the MD 500, so our students emerge from their training with valuable and very applicable skills for the helicopter pilot work force. The transition from the Schweizer to turbine helicopters is a very smooth and natural one.

Learning to Fly
The general course of action each instructor will take is to start you flying immediately. You will learn how the aircraft handles (turning, climbing, descending), what its characteristics are (in different airspeeds, altitudes and temperatures), what to do in case of emergency, what to say on the radios, and how to take off and land the helicopter. This will be done through the completion of various maneuvers, demonstrated by your instructor and practiced by you.
