Whale Watching in San Diego
Experience a fast-paced and thrilling ride out to the Pacific Ocean, where your whale watching adventure will begin. The R.I.B. (Rigid Inflatable Boat) offers an intimate on-the-water experience, and its low profile allows you to get up close and personal with the California Gray Whales (Eschrichtius robustus). They pass by San Diego on their annual migration to the warmer waters of the Baja Peninsula, Mexico, and then again on their return North to their summer feeding grounds.

Along with the magnificent whales, large herds of Pacific White-sided and Bottlenose dolphins are frequently seen offshore, feeding on an abundance of bait fish. The extremely playful dolphins come right up to the R.I.B., and love to ride our bow wave and stern wake.

About the Captain
Our highly experienced U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain will draw on his vast knowledge and experience to find the best vantage for whale watching. The Captain will also serve as onboard naturalist, relaying a wealth of information about the natural history and migratory habits of the California Gray Whale.

Rigid Inflatable Boat (R.I.B.)
Our boats are U.S. Navy Seal Deployment Rigid Inflatable Boats (R.I.B.). They are custom built for the U.S. Department of Defense, Naval Surface Warfare Division, U.S. Navy SEAL, and Underwater Demolition Team. They are approximately 25 feet long and can carry up to 6 passengers. Also, they're powered by twin 150 HP e-Tec engines, the most environmentally friendly engines available. With its low profile and shallow draft, you can really get up close and personal with the marine life.

What to Wear
We recommend you show up to the boat with an extra layer of clothing that you would be comfortable walking around in. During late Fall, Winter and early Spring, we recommend you bring a jacket or windbreaker. It is often cooler on the water than on land, and temperatures may change throughout your excursion.

We do have insulated Mustang-style one-piece submarine suits available for teenage and adult passengers. The suits are very warm and easily fit over your clothing (available in limited sizes only).

We also recommend sunglasses and sunscreen, even on overcast days.
