Operation
7 days a week, year round. Lesson times depend on tides and ocean conditions. During checkout, please indicate your preferred lesson time and we will try to accommodate your request.

Duration
From start to finish, lessons are approx. 2 hours. There is a 10-minute check-in, 10-15 minute orientation on the sand, and 1 - 1 1/2 hours on the water.

Getting Started at Fisherman's Cove in Laguna Beach
Our stand-up paddle board lesson in Laguna Beach is so much more than just a lesson; it is a guided tour of North Laguna and its breathtaking coastline. You will meet your instructor at one of the best kept secrets in Laguna Beach, Fisherman's Cove. Here you will have a 15 minute orientation on the beach. Your instructor will teach you six different paddling techniques, including prone, kneeling and stand-up. After brief instruction on the sand, you will grab your stand-up paddle board (SUP) and head into the water to begin your aquatic adventure!

Once in the water, you'll be paddling alongside a multitude of wildlife, including exotic birds, colorful fish, and our colony of friendly sea lions. You’ll glide past crescent-shaped beaches, remote coves, dramatic sea cliffs and multi-million dollar homes. You’ll find yourself amongst shallow reefs and tide pools where you are likely to see garibaldi, starfish, anemones, and sea urchins. If you are lucky, you may even see dolphins or whales. It’s an exclusive and extraordinary way to see the charming village of Laguna, where the mountains cascade to the sea.

Ocean paddle boarding is a unique form of exercise, and allows you to experience how tranquil the mighty Pacific can be. The seas are generally calm, as Catalina Island serves as a barrier to the open ocean. The glide is quiet and serene, with no engine noise or smell of gas, and the sea air is invigorating. Your lesson will cater to your comfort and skill level, and the extent of your Laguna tour will be dependent on your preferences.

Paddling to Seal Rock
A highlight of your stand-up paddle board lesson and tour is Seal Rock. It is a nature sanctuary that is home to a colony of California Sea Lions. If you're up for it, you can paddle within 10 feet of these remarkable animals in their native habitat. You’ll likely see babies, pups and bull males, weighing up to 1,000 pounds. It is truly a phenomenal experience for any animal lover!

Who Can Paddle Board?
Our Laguna Beach paddle board lesson/tour is perfect for beginners and experienced paddle boarders alike. Paddle boarding can be relaxing, vigorous, or anything in between, depending on how fast you choose to go. You’ll be paddling on a top-of-the-line stand up paddle board and will be wearing a life jacket. The expert guides are there to help you launch and land, and will point out some breathtaking sights along the way. We require paddlers to be at least 8 years old.

Safety First
Our experienced guides value your safety, above all. Our paddle boards are strong, buoyant and perfect for beginners. Our instructors are in the water with you, guiding you as well as assisting with whatever you may need. Once you get the hang of it, we know you'll be as hooked as we are!

For safety measures, the maximum weight capacity is 200 pounds on our inflatable stand-up paddle boards, and 280 pounds on our fiberglass boards.
